Schooner Creek Discovery Park

Schooner Creek Discovery Park, located at 4815 SE 51st Street in Lincoln City, OR, spans 6.71 acres and is a key priority outlined in the 2016 Lincoln City Parks System Plan. We couldn’t be more thrilled to help support this new city park!

Phase 1 of this exciting 3-phased park project, which features the first inclusive and accessible public playground on the Oregon Coast, officially opened on December 14, 2024.

Phase 2 includes and Entry Plaza, Promenade, Event Stage & Lawn. The park entry plaza will be a welcoming and attractive space for community members to enjoy, and will be landscaped to be a destination in itself. It will include a promenade, covered picnic shelters, special event stage, flexible lawn area with hearing loops, an art mural, as well as ADA gender neutral restrooms with a universal chanigng table. Phase 2 is underway, with construction expected to be completed by Fall 2025.

Phase 3 amenities will include a covered multi-sports court, permanent pickleball courts, turfed multi-sports field and walking paths. Phase 3 design will begin in Fall 2025, with construction slated for completion by Fall 2026. This park will be a vibrant and welcoming space for the entire community to enjoy, with each phase bringing new features and amenities.

  • 2016: The park is identified as a key priority in the Lincoln City Parks System Plan.

  • 2023: Workshop Design Boards

  • Phase 1:

    • December 14, 2024: Phase 1 opens, featuring the first inclusive and accessible public playground on the Oregon Coast.

    • 2024: Received a $10,000 grant from Roundhouse Foundation for Phase 1; the Inclusive and Accessible Playground at Schooner Creek Discover Park

      2024: Received a $5,000 from the Marie Lamfrom Sunflower Grant for Phase 1; the Inclusive and Accessible Playground at Schooner Creek Discovery Park

  • Phase 2:

    • 2025: Phase 2 is in the design phase.

    • 2025:  Awarded grant funding from the Community Partnership Fund through Explore Lincoln City to provide Blue-Tooth Enable Hearing Loop Technology at the new stage as part of Phase 2 of Schooner Creek Discovery Park.

    • Fall 2025: Construction of Phase 2 is expected to be completed.

  • Phase 3:

    • Fall 2025: Design for Phase 3 will begin.

    • Fall 2026: Construction of Phase 3 is expected to be completed.

Regatta Park Sandcastle Replacement

The development planning and conceptual design process for the new ADA compliant Sandcastle Playground in Regatta Park began in 2024.

 A public Open House was held in May 2024. Many people attended this event, sharing their special memories of the current playground, and their ideas for the new playground. Utilizing the public input received during the Open House, and from almost 200 online survey responses, the playground design is in process. A date has not yet been set for construction.
